The Pomsky
The Pomsky is a designer breed that originates from a Siberian Husky crossed with a Pomeranian.
The Siberian Husky is highly intelligent, independent, driven, and energetic. Whilst the Pomeranian is a calm, loving lap-dog that always wants to be with you. The combination of both personalities makes the Pomsky the perfect companion that is incredibly smart, loving, and spirited. They love the go for walks and play, but are also happy to cuddle up next to you for the day.
Pomskys are amazing with both children, and other animals. They just simply want to be loved, and be the centre of attention.
The Aussie Pom
The Aussie Pom is a designer breed that originates from an Australian Shepherd (standard, mini or toy) crossed with a Pomeranian.
The Australian Shepherd is, at-heart, a working dog that thrives in a stimulating, driven environment. They are incredibly intelligent and loyal. Whilst the Pomeranian is curious, bold and playful. Combining the two personalities creates an incredibly trainable, sociable and affectionate dog.
Aussie Pom’s are the perfect family companion. They are great with children and all other animals. Crossing the Australian Shepherd with the Pomeranian allows you to still have a playful pup, and they lose the herding/farm instincts and drive from the shepherd that make them need high amounts of exercise.
Variations in the breeds
BODY COAT:
Generally, there are three variations in the coats of a pomsky: standard, plush and wooly.
Standard coat: medium length coat that is similar to that of a Siberian Husky.
Plush: longer coat on the body and a distinct plume style on the tail and ruff around the face. This is similar to that of a Pomeranian or Spitz.
Wooly: similar again to plush, but significantly longer. It has a thicker undercoat and is much more dense.
SIZE:
Pomskys and Aussie Poms can vary in weight and height depending on the genetic pair up between the Husky/Shepherd and Pomeranian traits.
Weight: approximately between 5-10kg
Height: approximately 25-60cm
